Posted in Green Tips.

Did you know one simple energy-saving task you can do is to change all your light bulbs out with Compact Fluorescent Light bulbs (CFLs)?

Energy Star qualified CFLs:

  • use approximately 75% less energy than standard incandescent bulbs, read how they work
  • last up to 10 times longer than standard incandescent bulbs
  • save about $30 or more in electricity costs over each bulb's lifetime
  • produce about 75% less heat, making them safer to operate
  • are available in sizes and shapes to fit almost any fixture, indoors or out.

The Energy Star website also provides tips on the following:

If every American home replaced just one light bulb with an Energy Star qualified bulb, it would save enough energy to light more than 3 million homes for a year, save more than $600 million in annual energy costs, and prevent greenhouse gases equivalent to the emissions of more than 800,000 cars.
